Pregnant women that get the flu are four times as likely to give birth to a baby who will have bipolar disorder. Contracting the flu during the second and third trimesters are especially dangerous, though the first trimester isn't exactly safe. A previous study has shown that schizophrenia risk is increased threefold with the flu.

The CDC has recommended flu shots for pregnant women for years, but only a fraction heed the warning.
